The Look of Stone, The Strength of Concrete

Pattern imprinted concrete (PIC) — also known as stamped concrete — gives you the premium look of natural stone, slate, or brick at a significantly lower cost. Wet concrete is poured, coloured, and then stamped with your chosen pattern before it sets, creating a seamless, joint-free surface.

The result is a driveway that looks far more expensive than it is, with none of the joints where weeds can grow. It's exceptionally strong, handles heavy vehicles with ease, and with a re-seal every few years will look stunning for decades.

  • Premium stone/brick look at lower cost
  • Joint-free surface — no weeds in cracks
  • Exceptionally strong & hard-wearing
  • Wide choice of patterns and colours
  • Sealed finish resists oil, fuel & stains

Key Facts

Patterns Available

Choose from cobblestone, slate, flagstone, brick, and more. Each pattern is stamped into the wet concrete using professional moulds for a realistic finish.

Durability

Exceptionally strong. PIC handles heavy vehicles, won't sink or rut, and resists cracking. With proper sealing, it's resistant to oil, fuel, and de-icing salt.

Lifespan

25–30+ years with basic maintenance. The coloured surface is integral — not a coating — so it won't peel or flake. Re-sealing every 3–5 years maintains the finish.

Colour Options

Integral colour is mixed through the concrete, with a surface hardener for a consistent finish. Popular choices: buff, terracotta, charcoal, slate, and natural stone tones.

Maintenance

Low maintenance. Sweep regularly, jet wash annually, and re-seal every 3–5 years to maintain the coloured finish and stain resistance. Avoid de-icing salts on unsealed surfaces.

Drainage

PIC is non-permeable, so front garden installations over 5m² need drainage to a soakaway. We handle all drainage as standard to ensure SuDS compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does pattern imprinted concrete cost?+

Typically £90–£130 per square metre for a full installation. While more expensive than plain concrete, it's significantly cheaper than natural stone and offers comparable kerb appeal.

How long does installation take?+

A typical single driveway takes 5–7 days, including excavation, sub-base, pouring, stamping, and curing. The concrete needs time to cure properly before it's sealed and ready for vehicles (typically 7 days).

Will the colour fade over time?+

The colour is integral — mixed through the full depth of the surface layer — so it won't peel or flake. The sealed surface can gradually lighten over many years; re-sealing every 3–5 years refreshes the colour.

Can PIC be repaired if it cracks?+

Minor cracks can be filled with colour-matched sealant. If properly installed on a good sub-base, significant cracking is rare. The seamless nature of PIC means repairs are less visible than on a block paved surface.
